The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) is the world’s largest trade association representing the life sciences industry. BIO members are leading the research and development of innovative healthcare, agriculture, industrial, and environmental products. We bring members together with others in the industry and advocate around the world for policies and regulations that support the needs of biotech businesses large and small.
BIO Business Solutions is the largest cost savings program for the life sciences industry, operated by BIO. BIO Business Solutions negotiates significant volume-based discounts, favorable terms, and other benefits on products and services with industry leading suppliers on behalf of BIO members and the members of state and regional biotech associations.
BIO Business Solutions is a benefit of BIO membership so member companies have access to savings and BIO Business Solutions offers at no additional cost.
BIO partners with a network of independent state and regional life science associations (BIO’s network of state affiliates) to support policy initiatives and business development activity. These state affiliates provide BIO with “grassroots” support. As part of our partnership with the state affiliates, BIO makes the BIO Business Solutions program available to their members. The members of participating state associations may also use the program at no additional charge, as the program is a benefit of their memberships.
BIO has a formal process for consideration of new partnerships. BIO consults an Advisory Board comprised of BIO member company representatives nationwide from various professional disciplines to assess the needs of its membership as they relate to the BIO Business Solutions program and to review proposals from suppliers and service providers.
The first step in the process for consideration, as a preferred service provider under the BIO Business Solutions program, is reaching out to save@bio.org and request a questionnaire that will provide us a brief overview of your company, the products and/or services you propose to offer, and other relevant information. The BIO Advisory Board reviews these questionnaire responses twice a year
The BIO Business Solutions program is available to all BIO member companies and of members of all participating state and regional biotech associations. There is no charge for member companies to participate in the program as it is a benefit of membership. Member companies can take advantage of one, some, or all of the special pricing arrangements offered through the BIO Business Solutions program. An eligible membership is required for participation in the BIO Business Solutions program, but becoming a member is fast, easy AND comes with a bunch of additional benefits. While some of the individual BIO Business Solutions programs are relevant only to life science companies, a few programs are applicable and available to any company in any industry!
Over 4,700 companies currently use BIO Business Solutions and, together, save over $705 million annually through the program. The discounted prices and value-added features available are negotiated based on the pooled buying power of thousands of life sciences companies of all sizes across North America, giving you the same purchasing power as the largest life sciences companies.
Your exact savings will depend on which programs you use as well as other factors, such as product mix, frequency and volume of purchases, etc.

There is no charge to use the program. BIO Business Solutions is a member benefit of BIO and participating state or regional associations.
You do not have to change the way you do business to enjoy the BIO discounts and other benefits. The BIO Business Solutions cost-savings programs do not restrict your purchasing selection to a short list of obscure “close out” items. In most cases, the full selection of products and services offered by each supplier is available to you at a discounted price.
BIO Business Solutions programs do not require a long term commitment. It is extremely unusual for a member company to opt out of the program but, if you must, a simple 30 day written notice is sufficient for termination of most of the individual BIO Business Solutions programs.
