Rachna Chandora joined the CDC Foundation staff in 2012 as a program officer for tobacco control initiatives. In 2019, she was named associate vice president for noninfectious disease programs.
At the Foundation, Rachna is responsible for the strategic oversight and development of several portfolios of global and domestic programs and projects focused on non-communicable diseases, injury and violence prevention, maternal and reproductive health, and environmental health. Notably, she operationalized and expanded a portfolio of global tobacco control surveillance and capacity enhancement programs that are active in over 100 countries and protect nearly 5.2 billion people from the harmful effects of tobacco. In addition, Rachna launched and provides strategic direction for CDC Foundation’s cardiovascular health programs including the Million Hearts Communications Campaign and the Resolve to Save Lives led Global Cardiovascular Health Partnership.
Prior to joining the CDC Foundation, Rachna served as a tobacco control researcher at Georgia State University and worked at the American Cancer Society, where she managed fundraising initiatives and implemented the organization’s health promotion programs through community-based engagement.
Rachna earned a B.A. in economics from the University of Georgia; an M.P.H. specializing in prevention sciences from Georgia State University; and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in epidemiology from Georgia State University.
