Bay area event offered unique opportunity for biotech start-ups
San Francisco (October 18, 2017) – The BIO Investor Forum finished today after hosting two days of expert-led panel discussions, fireside chats, over 165 company presentations and more than 2,750 individual meetings arranged through BIO One-on-One Partnering — a 26 percent increase over last year. The event was attended by more than 1,000 representatives of private and early stage biotech companies, leading investment firms, research organizations and others who came together to foster the development of new medical treatments and to grow the industry’s pipeline. Occurring annually for the past 16 years, the forum is designed to match investors with innovators in the quest for breakthrough medical treatments and cures.
“Getting transformative treatments commercialized is a long and arduous process that often begins with a small start-up looking for sources of capital,” said Joanne Duncan, President of BIO’s Membership and Business Operations Division. “This annual conference can be the means to start the ball rolling for some, and to keep the momentum going for others. Any single company here could one day have a cure for our most feared disease, so we want to provide the right environment for those new relationships to develop.”
The BIO Investor Forum has continued to grow since its start in 2001 as a component of the larger BIO International Convention. The conference has expanded to include content rich programming, the SPARK showcase, company presentations, the “Buzz of BIO” contest, fireside chats and the proprietary BIO One-on-One™ Partnering™.
For attendees interested in maintaining deal-making momentum, BIO is offering complimentary access to its partnering system during the upcoming J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference Week from January 7 – 11, 2018. The partnering program will retain meeting history from the BIO Investor Forum and other BIO partnering events to help maximize meeting potential during JPM week.
