Yes, BIO's membership structure allows law firms, PR firms, academic institutions, suppliers, nonprofits and other non-biotech companies to join and participate in BIO.
There are U.S. state and regional biotech organizations. BIO works closely with these organizations and a number of them are actually BIO members. However, membership benefits are not reciprocal with any of these organizations. To enjoy BIO member benefits, your company/organization would need to join BIO.
Please contact the BIO Member Services Department at 202-962-9200 and they will be able to assist you further.
Membership in BIO is company or organization based; BIO does not offer individual memberships.
BIO membership is available only to bona fide organizations that promote biotechnology research and support the growth and development of the biotechnology industry; and to organizations with public policy positions and business practices that are generally consistent with BIO’s reputation and its policies and principles in support of innovation, including intellectual property, as determined by the Board Standing Committee on Membership. BIO reserves the right to review applications for membership to confirm that the applicant meets these criteria for membership, and for the specified categories of membership as per BIO’s bylaws. BIO may, in its sole discretion, reject an application for membership or elect not to renew a membership.
Membership in BIO is for a 12-month period from the time your membership begins.
