Washington, D.C. (February 10, 2016) – The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) applauds the passage yesterday by the Senate Health Committee of legislative components of the bipartisan Innovation Initiative to accelerate the pace of medical advancement.

“BIO is extremely encouraged by the broad bipartisan votes yesterday by the Senate Health Committee to advance components of the Senate Innovation Initiative,” said BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood. “We applaud Chairman Alexander and Ranking Member Murray for working towards final passage of these bills to improve the US healthcare system and encourage increased investment in medical innovation. We hope that these bills and others being considered by the Committee as part of this initiative will continue to enjoy broad bipartisan support. We look forward to working with members of the Committee on common sense reforms that will improve the ecosystem of innovation which patients rely upon to deliver new treatments.”
