George Washington Carver Award Nomination Form 2024 BIO Ag & Env. Summit

Award Purpose

The George Washington Carver Award recognizes significant contributions by individuals in the fields of agriculture and environmental biotechnology. This award will emphasize the important goal of using biotech innovation to develop sustainable value-chains. By honoring those who have worked successfully toward this goal in the private sector, government or academia, this award will serve as a lasting memorial to the original vision of George Washington Carver who, over a century ago, pioneered the creation and commercialization of sustainable biobased products and materials and energy derived from renewable agricultural feedstock. Today, his legacy lives on in biotechnology companies and innovators who are developing new methods to use renewable agricultural resources to manufacture fuels, plastics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food ingredients. Carver devoted his professional life to teaching sustainable farming techniques and developing new uses for agricultural products to boost farm profitability...

This award honors George Washington Carver and the individuals who have made a significant and lasting contribution to our industry.

Nominee Criteria

Just as George Washington Carver exhibited vision, creativity and persistence, nominees should be innovative pioneer in the fields of agriculture, food systems, energy, and biobased manufacturing. Nominations should highlight individuals who have demonstrated significant and innovative accomplishments within the industry to facilitate the advancement of a biobased economy and industrial sustainability.

Nomination Process

Nominations must be received by Friday, May 3,  5:00 p.m. EDT.

A selection committee will review the nominations and announce the award recipient at the BIO International Convention, June 3 – 6, in San Diego.
