Barrett Tenbarge is General Counsel for Ranking Member Bill Cassidy (LA) on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) committee. He is the lead staffer for Senator Cassidy on issues related to the FDA regulation of drugs and biologics, as well as intellectual property issues. He previously served as Senior Health Counsel for former Ranking Member Richard Burr (NC), where he was involved in drafting and negotiating the bills related to the 2022 FDA user fee reauthorizations. These include the FDA Omnibus Reform Act (FDORA), the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MOCRA), and the PREVENT Pandemics Act.
Prior to the HELP Committee, Barrett practiced law at Latham & Watkins, focusing on regulatory, litigation, transactional, and legislative matters involving the full lifecycle of FDA regulation of medical and other products. His practice also included reimbursement matters and antitrust counseling in the medical device and biopharmaceutical industries. Barrett received a B.S. in public policy analysis from Indiana University and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.
