Marie O'Brien

Dr Marie O’Brien is Chief Scientific Officer and co-founder of ReNewVax Ltd. She was previously Senior Scientific Manager of the Centre for Global Vaccine Research (CGVR), University of Liverpool. She developed expertise in the preclinical development of human vaccines with a particular focus on streptococcal infectious diseases. She trained as an immunologist and obtained her PhD at the University of Guelph, in Ontario, Canada subsequently completing postdoctoral positions at UT Southwestern Medical Centre, Dallas, Texas and Trinity College Dublin. Dr O’Brien has led research projects investigating the pathogenesis of, and host immunity to, streptococcal diseases using multi-photon imaging and in vivo murine disease models.
