Benjamin Freedman

FOUNDER/CEO, LIMAX BIOSCIENCES
Benjamin Freedman, PhD received his PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania. During his postdoctoral fellowship in Dr. David Mooney’s lab at the Wyss Institute at Harvard he was a co-inventor on the patented technology. Dr. Freedman has expertise in bioengineering and biomaterials and translationally relevant animal models. He has received two NIH grants as PI (F32 and K99) and an NSF iCorps grant. He has published 42 manuscripts and has presented over 60 conference abstracts. In October 2021, Dr. Freedman and Dr. Mooney co-founded Limax Biosciences to commercialize their newly developed hydrogel-based tissue adhesives. In May 2022, Limax won Harvard’s President’s Innovation Challenge, 2nd Place in the MedTech Innovator Finals, and 1st Place in the Value Competition at MedTech Strategist. In the fall of 2022 Limax was named an awardee of the JnJ Innovation "Innovations for Vets QuickFire Challenge: Lung Cancer & Physical Trauma".
