Kate Mevis is the Executive Director of US Vaccine Policy at Merck, overseeing federal and state vaccine policy for the company. Prior to her current position, she served in multiple positions across the federal government and in Congress. Her roles included Special Assistant to President Obama in the White House Office of Legislation and Senior Advisor to the Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). She also held multiple positions in the U.S. Senate, most recently as the Staff Director of the U.S. Senate Aging Committee for Chairman Bob Casey and earlier in her career as Health Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Jack Reed. Kate has been at the forefront of passing, implementing, and protecting the Affordable Care Act, the launch of the Biden Cancer Moonshot, securing funding to address the opioid epidemic, and expanding access to health care services and supports through programs ranging from the Health Center Program and Home and Community-Based Services to the Organ Transplant Program and Older Americans Act. She holds a Graduate Certificate and a B.A. from the George Washington University. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her family.
