Interim Head, Agriculture & Environment

Sylvia Wulf has a reputation as a proven leader and accomplished executive and board member with over 25 years of experience driving both growth and improved business performance. She is currently the interim head of the Agriculture & Environment section at BIO.

Sylvia previously served as AquaBounty’s President & CEO for five years, where she was responsible for leading the company’s growth and commercialization efforts globally. In this role, she transformed the executive leadership team and board of directors into diverse bodies with the requisite skills and backgrounds to support an early-stage company. She also broadened the investor base, raised over $245 million, and led the development of a metrics-driven approach to ESG.

Throughout her career, Sylvia has led the development and execution of customer centric strategies that created innovation and differentiation. She was previously the President of the Manufacturing Division and SVP of Merchandising for U.S. Foods, a $23 billion broad line foodservice distributor, where she was responsible for the P&L of the $12 billion protein and produce categories and the $1 billion Manufacturing Division of U.S. Foods Meat, Seafood and Produce operations. While at Tyson Foods, she was selected by the CEO to lead the turnaround of several underperforming business units, including Mexican poultry operations, resulting in a $52 million improvement to earnings.

One of Sylvia’s greatest passions is advocating for sustainable approaches to agriculture, particularly through the utilization of biotechnology and research. Sylvia is a Roundtable Fellow with the Farm Foundation and currently serves on several committees and boards that seek to advance sustainable agriculture. She earned her MBA from DePaul University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Western Illinois, and graduated from Harvard University’s Executive Program on Competitive Strategy.
