Patrick Plues has been involved with the biopharmaceutical industry for over 25 years and his work spans the breadth and scope of the industry. Patrick has worked in a large fortune 100 biopharmaceutical company, a mid-sized specialty product company, and in an industry trade organization.
In 1998, Patrick moved from Washington DC to Philadelphia where he joined Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. He spent eleven years there working in public affairs, focused on state and federal legislative initiatives in women’s health, childhood and adult immunization, and new breakthrough biologic therapies. Patrick then became Director of Federal Government Affairs at Cephalon Inc., a specialty biopharmaceutical company. In that role, he represented Cephalon’s interest during Congressional consideration of the Affordable Care Act and managed federal health policy and reimbursement, as well as third-party alliance development efforts.
In 2014, Patrick joined BIO as Director of State Government Affairs, with responsibility for BIO’s state-level legislative advocacy efforts. Patrick built up the state government affairs function at BIO and was elevated to Vice President. In 2024, Patrick was promoted to Senior Vice President of State Government Affairs & Affiliate Relations by assuming additional responsibility for managing BIO’s relationships with affiliated state biotechnology and life science associations across the country.
Patrick is a native of Irwin, Pennsylvania, in suburban Pittsburgh. He currently resides in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
