Biotech, Pharma and Investors Meet at BIO VentureForum East 2007

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 21, 2007) – More than 340 biotechnology executives and investors gathered at BIO VentureForum East 2007 to learn about more than 60 presenting U.S. and Canadian biotech companies and participate in workshops and plenary sessions highlighting trends in the industry. The meeting was held in Montreal, Canada on June 18 – 20.

“BIO VentureForum East 2007 successfully brought together emerging biotech companies and investors to encourage greater investment in promising science,” said BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood.

The event featured presentations on biotech companies from both the U.S. and Canada, a series of workshops on biotech trends and strategies, business development opportunities, and networking receptions. Alnylam’s president and CEO John Maraganore, Ph.D., and Stephen Sands, managing director of Lazard presented keynote addresses focusing on biotech trends and investor strategies.

BIO and BIOTECanada’s partners for the conference included BioFlorida, Biotechnology Association of Alabama, Biotechnology Council of New Jersey, Connecticut United for Research Excellence, the Delaware BioScience Association, the Georgia Biomedical Partnership Inc., MdBio, the New Hampshire Biotechnology Council, the New York Biotechnology Association, the North Carolina Biosciences Organization, the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, the Palmetto Biotechnology Alliance, Pennsylvania Bio, the Tennessee Biotechnology Association and VaBio (Virginia Biotechnology Association).
