BIO International Convention Wins Trade Show News Network Award for Social Media

The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) has received a Trade Show News Network Event Excellence Award (T-Award) for best social/media marketing for the BIO International Convention.

Washington, DC (November 8, 2011)– The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) has received a Trade Show News Network Event Excellence Award (T-Award) for best social/media marketing for the BIO International Convention. The 2nd annual awards program recognizes the best of the best in the trade show industry.

“We are pleased to accept this award for our social media program surrounding the BIO International Convention, the global event for biotechnology,” said Robbi Lycett, BIO’s Vice President of Conventions & Conferences. “It is critically important for our attendees to connect during the Convention, and social media is one of our key activities that help to make it quicker and easier for them.”

Margaret Core, BIO’s Managing Director Marketing & Sales, Convention and Conferences adds that “the connections we add through community, commerce and content create an environment where attendees from around the globe can move their business agendas forward and provide them with great value at the BIO International Convention.”

BIO was recognized for a variety of social media activities, including the “Get Social Notebook” campaign, which included tips on sharing and connecting on social media at Convention as well as details on the BIO SCVNGR Hunt. BIO used the services of r2i Integrated Mediain Baltimore, Md. for the 2012 social media activities and campaign.

The T-Awards were created to celebrate the growth, innovation and achievement in the trade show industry. The awards program is hosted by the Trade Show News Network.

The BIO International Convention showcases the many ways in which biotech continues to offer answers and hope for the world’s most pressing issues and provide high-quality, high-wage jobs. The 2012 BIO International Convention will be held June 18-21, 2012 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, Mass.
