BIO to Host New Clean Tech Investor Sessions for VCs at the World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Wednesday, June 16, 2010) - Industrial biotechnology companies are leading the drive to commercialize advanced biofuels, renewable chemicals and biobased products, generating new opportunities economic growth. The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) today announced creation of a first-of-its-kind Clean Tech Investor Session Program, featuring industrial biotech companies. This new two-day clean tech investor program will be held June 28-29, during the 2010 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology & Bioprocessing in Washington, DC.

Brent Erickson, executive vice president for BIO’s Industrial and Environmental Section, stated, “Industrial biotechnology is bringing renewed innovation to the chemical industry. Deployment of the technology can restore U.S. economic competitiveness in the chemical industry, contribute to renewed, sustainable economic growth, and create or save jobs in the sector. The United States is a world leader in developing industrial biotechnology for biobased products and green chemicals, but other countries are investing to promote this sector.

“BIO is proud to announce the first-ever investor sessions at the World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology & Bioprocessing. Executives from emerging industrial biotechnology companies seeking investment and partnering opportunities will present their new technologies, accomplishments, milestones, value propositions and business cases for advanced biofuels and renewable chemical platforms. Innovative industrial biotechnology companies were selected to participate in this program based on their breakthrough clean technologies, bio-based consumer product strategies, and extensive intellectual property coverage.”

The new upgraded BIO One-on-One Partnering System will allow investors and biotechnology companies to schedule private meetings.

Attendance at the Investor Sessions and the exhibit hall is complimentary for investors or security analysts. Investors will be required to obtain full conference registration to attend plenary and breakout sessions at the World Congress.
