BIO promotes efficient and effective public to private technology transfer mechanisms for the biotechnology community domestically and internationally, including focusing on funding mechanisms to promote Technology Transfer by reviewing and commenting on proposed State and Federal technology transfer legislation, tech-transfer-related regulations from Federal and State agencies, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The Technology Transfer Committee is responsible for a thorough review of the current mechanisms for technology transfer and mechanisms in place for Cooperative Research and Development Agreements within the biotechnology industry; member and public outreach on technology transfer in biotechnology product development; and identifying areas in public/private collaborations that may need fine tuning.
The Committee meets 2 times a year in-person. There are opportunities for working groups to meet on an ad hoc basis or to give comments throughout the year on papers, letters, and other correspondence sent out on behalf of BIO's members.
