Get Active at the 2011 BIO International Convention

According to the American College of Sports Medicine, Washington, DC tops the ranks of the fittest cities in the nation. With the 2011 BIO International Convention quickly approaching, BIO hopes visitors will get active.  From the BIO 5K Run/Walk to the BIO Golf Outing (both hosted by Novo Nordisk Inc) to the various outdoor activities right at our fingertips in the nation’s capital, attendees are encouraged to get outside and take advantage of all the city has to offer.

BIO 5K Run/Walk

Monday, June 27, 8:30 am – 10:30 am

Explore the sites of the Washington, DC area and get some exercise while interacting with industry colleagues at the Washington & Old Dominion Trail in Arlington, VA.

BIO Golf Outing

Monday, June 27, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Enjoy a full day of golfing with your peers in the wooded Dogue Creek at the Mt. Vernon Country Club in Alexandria, VA.

Walking Tour of the National Mall, Monuments and Memorials

See DC by foot and visit the architectural landmarks that commemorate important chapters in American history with nearly all major monuments and memorials within walking distance. As a bonus, many of the city’s most popular historic sites are free of charge.

Jack’s Boathouse

For the water lover’s, take an adventure down the Potomac with a rented canoe or kayak from Jack’s Boathouse located in the picturesque Georgetown Waterfront.

Bike the Sites

Rent bikes and follow the path from the Lincoln Memorial to go over the Memorial Bridge and pedal in to Old Town Alexandria and on to the historic Mount Vernon.

Baltimore Orioles Baseball Game

Partake in a summertime classic, a major league baseball game with the Baltimore Orioles only a 45 minute drive north of the city (the Washington Nationals will be away).

Take a Hike, Literally

Explore a little bit of nature, only minutes from the city. Great Falls offers great views for the adventure seeker who likes biking, hiking or bird watching.
