Position Title: Executive Director

Department: Food & Agriculture

Reports to: BIO-ETS Governing Board

Salary Range: Commensurate w/experience

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Biotechnology Industry Organization is seeking an Executive Director for its newly formed affiliate, Excellence Through StewardshipSM. Excellence Through StewardshipSM (ETS) is a new, global quality management and stewardship program for the plant biotechnology industry. Drawing on guidelines for best practices in quality management and stewardship, ETS is intended to help companies achieve compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, achieve plant product integrity, facilitate the flow of goods in commerce, and prevent trade disruptions. The Executive Director will be responsible to the ETS Board of Directors for all management and operational aspects of the program, including the administration of member committees, development and maintenance of quality management guides, coordination of public outreach, and management of the stewardship audit program.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of establishing stewardship and quality management practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of establishing and managing third-party auditing processes.
  • Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills to effectively implement the goals of BIO-ETS.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills to develop and promote the BIO-ETS Program to a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of biotechnology, agri-business, or agriculture desired but not required.
  • Working knowledge of public and private research activities in plant biotechnology desired by not required.
  • M.S. or Ph.D. or equivalent in related field.
  • Minimum of ten years experience in quality management and/or process auditing and/or agricultural biotechnology field.
  • Experience working directly with researchers, companies, universities, and regulatory agencies.
